Thickness Testing Made Low Cost but Effective

Published on by Alan Foster

Testing thickness for used single skinned containers is not only necessary but it should be done on a regular basis. Corrosion inside can make the walls become thinner without anyone knowing it. Thin walls of a container often break or crack and the leak is formed which not only causes loss of the agent inside, but it can also do great harm if the agent is sensitive, which in most cases it really is. Hence it should be checked and if the container is being damaged from inside, it should be replaced at the earliest to avoid any serious loss.

Coltraco’s Portagauge 3rd generation device is capable to measure the thickness of the single skinned containers without the need to be actually inside it. Using the ultrasonic technology it can sense thickness and identify the weak point when it comes across it. Using the simple technique to place the transducer and move it from one point to another in a sequence would let you know where the weak point is. The Portagauge 3rd generation device comes at an extremely down to earth price and has life time technical support. The handheld device is measured at:

Height: 140 mm (6.10 inches)
Width: 80 mm (3.74 inches)
Depth: 30 mm (1.77 inches)
Weight: 350 grams (12.35 ounces)
